Five years after the release of BC’s Old Growth Strategic Review (OGSR), 88 organizations, alongside the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, have issued an open letter urging the provincial government to honor its commitment to make biodiversity and ecosystem health the top priority in decision-making across all sectors, and to enshrine this commitment in law. Ongoing delays and inaction prompted the release of the letter and accompanying media statement on September 11, 2025.
The Commercial Bear Viewing Association of BC proudly joined as a signatory to this letter, as it reflects our mandate to promote sustainable bear viewing and protect wild bears and their ecosystems. CBVA remains committed to advocating for strong ecological legislation that safeguards the habitats and ecological integrity that wild bears rely on.
